With this blog post we wanted to take the time to highlight some of the amazing charities we have partnered up with along the way.
From the very beginning when we launched during Covid and handed out our first coffee samples to fuel our local NHS staff to creating our first Charity Coffee in support of the Durham Food Bank, giving back and helping our local community where we can, has been, is, and always will be important to us.
Thus we wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate the amazing charities we work with and encourage you to consider buying a bag of their bespoke coffee blends, as every little purchase truly helps.
Our first charity coffee collaboration was with the wonderful Willow Burn Hospice. We created a bespoke Willow Burn Blend for them to retail and serve at their Willows Café. The Willows is a beautiful community café located at Willow Burn Hospice and boasts gorgeous views across Derwentside.
The setting is perfect for catching up with friends and family, meeting clients or work colleagues, or even have a family celebration. Alongside their delicious coffee and calming environment with stunning views, there is an array of yummy home-cooked food to choose from and enjoy. First opened in 2016, the Willows Café was then refurbished with the development of the Helen McArdle Wing in 2018. The café is run by volunteers and all profit goes to support the vital work at Willow Burn Hospice
We initially supported St. Cuthbert’s Hospice through one of our charity coffees by donating 20% of each bag sold to the Hospice. Once the charity coffee sold out, we teamed up for our second charity coffee collaboration, creating them their very own St. Cuthbert’s Blend so coffee could continue to support and fuel them.
Well balanced and creamy, this light-medium roast has subtle floral notes and a hint of fruitiness, which is well suited for filter and cafetiere. You can buy a bag of their bespoke coffee on their online shop.
Our latest charity coffee collaboration was with the Great North Air Ambulance, another amazing and very important charity. Working with them allowed us to learn more about the far-reaching work they do and how crucial their services are.
“Lift off your morning knowing the Great North Air Ambulance Service helicopters can lift off because of you.” Their exclusive coffee blend is creamy with notes of hazelnut, cereals and a subtle fruitiness. You can purchase their Whirlybird Blend online via their website.
Poverty Hurts Appeal Charity Coffee
And last but not least, our own limited edition charity coffee, a beautiful single origin coffee from Honduras, is supporting the County Durham Community Foundation’s Poverty Hurts Appeal .
The County Durham Community Foundation works with local communities to fund projects that fight poverty and enrich lives. Founded 28 years ago, the Foundation connects people who love to give with local causes that really matter.
By buying our charity coffee, you will directly be aiding the fight against poverty in County Durham as 20% of each bag sold will be donated to their appeal.
Thank you for your support!
