It was pretty much exactly 1 year ago today that we first met the wonderful team from Mio. Ana, her mother and Alex (not forgetting Lazlo their spaniel) visited us at our roastery in Durham and we had a lush day cupping samples, getting to know each other and chatting all things coffee!
We immediately fell in love and knew we wanted to partner up with this wonderful family business. We began our relationship by launching a limited edition coffee with a delicious semi-carbonic maceration lot from their farm in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Now, after a much anticipated wait, we are finally in the position to switch our core Brazilian offering (our Miners’ Gala) to one of their coffees. We didn’t want to shake things up too much and have thus chosen a bean with similar taste notes that are best highlighted by a similar roast curve. Our new Brazilian Miners’ Gala is deliciously creamy and sweet with nutty notes and hints of dragon fruit.
Mio’s values and practices align with what we stand for and want to support. They are paving the future of what coffee production should look like from traceability reports which name each individual worker who harvested each lot of coffee, to all the research and work they’re doing regarding the longevity and sustainability of coffee.
We look forward to continuing this wonderful relationship with them and hope you enjoy their coffee as much as we do! Grab a bag here and let us know what you think!
