Founded in 2015, Rwamatamu Coffee Ltd is a family run coffee farm and washing station, located in the Western province of Rwanda, where the landscape consists of picturesque rolling hills flanked around Lake Kivu in the Nyamasheke District. This region provides a tropical highland climate with an average temperature of 14 to 24 C and regular rainfall. This allows arabica coffee to flourish and results in a dense, hard bean with superior coffee flavour. Currently, they are also in the process of gaining their organic and fair-trade certifications.

Rwamatamu Coffee Ltd has 20 hectares of coffee plantation from where it harvests its own cherries alongside also working with and purchasing cherries from affiliate co-operatives, local producer families and smallholder farmers in the area. Their goal is to build healthy relationships with the community based on common values and goals. This is done by committing to a regular purchase of beans, investing in the growth of employees and working to have a positive social and economic impact on farmer communities, focusing on women in particular.

We will be adding more delicious Rwamutamu Coffee to our offerings in the future, but to begin this lovely new relationship, we’ve chosen their Washed Community Coffee to be our next Limited Edition Charity Coffee which this time round is in support of the Oasis Community Housing Charity. This wonderful charity does a lot of important work here in the North East to combat homelessness and once again we’re donating 20% of every Limited Edition Charity Coffee bag sold to them. Please help us help them fight homelessness and buy a bag of this delicious new Rwandan Coffee.
